Origin: The serape tradition originated in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, where these textiles were highly prized for their intricate weaving and vivid colors, achieved through natural dyes like cochineal and indigo.
Design: They typically feature a central diamond or medallion design, often surrounded by colorful stripes and borders, frequently incorporating the colors of the Mexican flag.
